Thank you for your participation in The Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) Career Mentoring Program for ASMR Members and approved participants.

By agreeing to the introduction and taking part in the program both the Mentor and Mentoree acknowledge that:-

1. Mentors are Honorary volunteers, vetted by the ASMR Board of Directors and drawn from the ranks of the ASMR membership. Mentorees or others approved by ASMR are ASMR members seeking a career mentor. ASMR introduces the mentoree to the mentor.
2. Whilst ASMR has taken all care to ensure Mentors are appropriately qualified to fulfil the role of a career mentor for a more junior health and medical research scientist, the ASMR does not accept responsibility or liability for any act, advice, omission or error on the part of the Mentor.
3. Where the mentoring relationship is not functioning as desired or required by either or both parties, the mentor and the mentoree have the right to terminate the relationship at any time. Neither party shall have any claim against the other or ASMR in respect of any matter arising from the relationship.
4. Confidentiality must be maintained at each stage of the mentoring relationship unless, subject to limited circumstances, the mentor and the mentoree clearly agree otherwise. Such circumstances may include, for example, when a staff member raises an issue of sexual harassment or bullying concerning another person or connected to another person within their Institute in the course of the mentoring relationship.
5. When in doubt as to whether an issue should be raised with a party external to the mentoring relationship, the onus is on the mentor to seek guidance from the HR Manager of the institution.
6. ASMR will seek follow up information on the success of the relationship at twelve month intervals for a 3 year period
